Both masters of the bedrock instruments of traditional music\, they collaborate with a vision that is both modern and ageless. \nMike Compton\, a Grammy-winning mandolinist\, is widely recognized for his mastery of the Monroe-style mandolin playing. With a career spanning over four decades\, Compton has collaborated with legendary artists such as John Hartford\, Nashville Bluegrass Band\, Elvis Costello\, Ralph Stanley as well as a featured performer on the “Oh Brother\, Where Art Thou?” soundtrack as well as a mainstay in the two highly successful tours that followed. Mike has done two consecutive years Artist in Residence at East Tennessee State University’s “Appalachian Studies/Bluegrass and Old Time” Program. His unique blend of bluegrass\, old-time\, and traditional music has captivated audiences across the globe. \n Known around the world for his clawhammer banjo playing\, Joe Newberry is also a powerful guitarist\, singer and songwriter. Using these experiences as a foundation\, there’s truly no limit to where this Chicago-based quartet will go – literally and figuratively. \nEver constant in the group’s enthralling performances is their ability to showcase their passion for both their craft and our shared humanity. Each member skilled in storytelling\, compelling songwriting and intricate instrumentation\, they offer intrinsic artistic prowess\, fervently building on one another’s raw talent. Reverence for tradition coupled with curiosity and innovation lands the Prowlers in a category difficult to define but explosively intriguing around every bend. \nTheir latest record\, ‘Unravel\,’ produced by Dark Shadow Recording’s Stephen Mougin (Sam Bush Band) underscores the band’s resistance towards being contained\, some tunes expressing a modern Americana feel with others nodding to classic country and bluegrass standards. On this newest offering\, their trademark four-piece harmonies have only matured in tone and sincerity\, their picking ferocious as ever. It’s a testament to their emboldened status as composers\, walking fine lines and eschewing strict categorization in favor of experimentation and satisfying their inner artistry. \nThe subject matter largely encircles ever-challenging life on the road\, as well as reflections on war\, personal quests\, the passage of time\, and tremendous loss\, all rounded out by peaks of joy\, lighthearted imagination\, and hearts unburdened. Mirroring their worldly touring reality\, seemingly no terrain is left untraversed. Weathered and worn\, nevertheless brightly shining for all to see\, ‘Unravel’ welcomes the listener as though they were an old companion\, eager to share their intimate stories of years gone by. \nBut you haven’t really experienced the band until you’ve seen them onstage. She is also a member of the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame. Her song cycle album\, Jubilee\, debuted on the Billboard Bluegrass Album Chart at #1#1 in June of 2024. Widely respected for his powerful vocals and exceptional musicianship\, Shayne has earned a reputation as one of the genre’s most versatile performers. \nHis musical journey began as a teenager playing guitar with his older brother Rick’s band\, Newground\, where his talent quickly became evident. Over the years\, he developed into an accomplished multi-instrumentalist\, excelling on guitar\, banjo\, and mandolin while becoming equally recognized for his distinctive lead and harmony vocals. \nThroughout his career\, Shayne has performed with many of bluegrass music’s most acclaimed artists and bands\, including Bluegrass Hall of Fame members The Lost and Found\, Don Rigsby and Midnight Call\, American Drive\, Southern Blend\, The Charlie Sizemore Band\, Dave Evans\, Unlimited Tradition\, Rarely Herd\, David Peterson and 1946\, and The Karl Shiflett & Big Country Show. Shayne currently holds down the mandolin position with Fast Track and will be performing select dates with a group of great musical friends as his Fast Track schedule allows. Shayne is in the recording studio as of late\, working on an upcoming solo recording. He has also filled in with the legendary J.D. Crowe and the New South\, a testament to the high regard in which he is held throughout the bluegrass community. \nShayne’s career includes numerous honors and milestones. Join us each week for live performances featuring talented regional and touring musicians. \nThis performance will feature Brenna MacMillan: \nOriginally from Winchester\, Kentucky\, Brenna MacMillan began playing banjo at the age of nine. Brenna performed frequently in the Lexington area which led to opening for J.D. Crowe and Bobby Osborne. Attending Berea College\, Brenna played with the Bluegrass Ensemble under Al White and was awarded the Red Foley Memorial Music Award in 2018. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry\, Brenna moved to Nashville and started Theo & Brenna Band with her brother Theo. Their full bluegrass band toured for several years\, releasing two albums.\nAs Theo & Brenna Band stepped back from touring in 2022\, Brenna began working in Nashville with various artists and bands locally\, online\, and touring\, including Brennen Leigh\, Paul Kramer\, Hillary Klug\, Greg Garing\, Kimberly Perry\, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes\, East Nash Grass\, Jason Carter\, Suwannee Mountain Boys\, Della Mae\, Kashus Culpepper and Josiah and the Bonnevilles. She performed with international group Tapis Rogue 2 at the International Festival of Carthage 2025 in Tunis\, Tunisia.\nBrenna released her debut solo album Dear Life in October of 2024. Since releasing this record\, Brenna has brought her music to audiences across the US\, Canada\, and Ireland. Her songs have undertones of West African rhythms\, old Kentuckian soil melodies and an innate resonation of storytelling. Join us each week for live performances featuring talented regional and touring musicians. \nThis performance will feature Danny Roberts: \nDanny Roberts’ musical journey began on the family farm in Leitchfield\, Kentucky\, where he first picked up a guitar to accompany his childhood friend Jimmy Mattingly. Growing up on neighboring farms\, the two developed a\nmusical partnership that would span decades. Before long\, Roberts was winning contests throughout the region as\nboth a guitarist and\, eventually\, a mandolin player\, establishing himself as one of Kentucky’s most promising young\nbluegrass musicians.\nIn 1982\, Roberts co-founded New Tradition\, one of the most influential and innovative bluegrass gospel groups of\nits era. During the band’s nearly twenty-year run-ten of those years touring full-time-New Tradition recorded ten albums\, appeared on the Grand Ole Opry\, and introduced countless fans to bluegrass through its fresh sound\,\npowerful harmonies\, and dynamic stage performances. The group’s groundbreaking video for “Seed of Love”\, the first bluegrass music video to prominently feature the banjo\, reached No. 1 on The Nashville Network (TNN)\, helping bring bluegrass music and its gospel message to a new generation of listeners.\nWhen New Tradition stopped touring in 2000\, Roberts accepted a position with Gibson Musical Instruments’\nOriginal Acoustic Instruments (OAI) division. His extensive knowledge of vintage instruments and mandolin\nconstruction quickly earned him increasing responsibilities\, eventually serving as Mandolin Supervisor before\nbecoming Plant Manager of the renowned luthiery. During his tenure\, Roberts was instrumental in the development\nof many of Gibson’s finest modern mandolins. He served as the lead designer for the prestigious limited-edition\nArtist Models honoring Doyle Lawson\, Adam Steffey\, Wayne Benson\, and Alan Bibey\, while also designing\nprototypes for the celebrated Golden Rush series and numerous other mandolin models that continue to be prized\nby players and collectors alike.\nFollowing his years with Gibson\, Roberts’ passion for exceptional instruments continued. In 2019\, he began\nperforming exclusively on McClanahan Mandolins\, handcrafted by premier luthier Jonathan McClanahan. The\npartnership quickly grew into a close collaboration built on a shared commitment to craftsmanship\, tone\, and\ntradition. In 2025\, McClanahan introduced the Danny Roberts Signature Model DRXV\, a limited artist model\ndesigned to reflect Roberts’ exacting preferences developed over decades as both a professional performer and\nmaster luthier. Roberts is honored to represent Jonathan McClanahan and proudly showcases the exceptional quality\nand craftsmanship of McClanahan Mandolins.\nEven while helping build some of the world’s finest acoustic instruments\, Roberts never stepped away from\nperforming. He conducted mandolin workshops alongside legendary players including Sam Bush\, Chris Thile\, and\nBobby Osborne\, made guest appearances with artists such as Marty Raybon\, Larry Cordle\, and Melonie Cannon\,\nand toured with bluegrass and country veteran Ronnie Reno as a member of The Reno Tradition. In 2004\, Roberts\nreunited with his lifelong friend Jimmy Mattingly as a founding member of The Grascals\, a band that would go on\nto become one of the most celebrated and influential groups in modern bluegrass.\nFor more than two decades\, Roberts has been an integral part of The Grascals\, where his unmistakable mandolin\nplaying has helped define the band’s award-winning sound and establish them as one of the genre’s most enduring and respected bands. The Grascals have won multiple International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA)\nAwards\, including two Entertainer of the Year honors\, as well as three GRAMMY Award nominations\, while\nperforming for audiences around the world. In addition\, Roberts has received seven Society for the Preservation of\nBluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA) Mandolin Performer of the Year Awards.\nRoberts has released three acclaimed solo albums that not only showcase his mandolin playing but his songwriting\nand vocals as well. His debut recording\, Mandolin Orchard (2004)\, received extensive radio airplay and was\nrecognized by the Chicago Tribune as one of the Top 10 Bluegrass Releases of 2004. He followed\nwith Nighthawk (2014)\, a critically praised collection that further demonstrated his versatility as both a composer\nand interpreter. In 2026\, Roberts released The Winding Road Leads Home\, his most personal project to date-a\ncollection reflecting the friendships\, musical influences\, and experiences accumulated throughout a lifetime devoted\nto bluegrass music.\nAway from the stage\, Roberts continues to share his expertise through Just Off The Bench\, his respected luthier\nshop specializing in professional setup\, repair\, and restoration of mandolins and other acoustic instruments. Drawing\non decades of experience\, he works with musicians of every level to help their instruments perform and sound\ntheir very best. Roberts has also spent many years as a mandolin instructor\, mentoring students of all ages and skill\nlevels while passing along the techniques\, musicianship\, and appreciation for bluegrass traditions that have defined\nhis own career. She is most widely known for her lively and versatile fiddling and tenor singing rooted in traditional bluegrass music. \nShe has performed regularly with Jesse McReynolds & the Virginia Boys\, David Peterson & 1946\, and Chris Henry & the Hardcore Grass\, among many other artists and bands in her freelancing. She’s worked with artists such as Jim Lauderdale\, Melvin Goins\, and the McCormick Brothers\, and she’s guested on stage with the likes of Del McCoury\, Peter Rowan\, Alison Krauss\, Charlie Louvin\, and Bobby Osborne. \nA 2012 graduate of Belmont University\, Corrina placed 1st in the Bluegrass Fiddle category at the Galax Old Fiddlers’ Convention of the same year. The son of legendary dobro master Phil Leadbetter\, Matt was raised in a home where music wasn’t just played-it was lived. From an early age\, the melodies of bluegrass\, gospel\, and mountain tradition became part of who he was. \nThat natural inclination led him to the road in 2000\, and more than 26 years later\, Matt continues to travel the highways and backroads of America\, carrying with him a sound rooted in tradition and shaped by experience. His journey has included performing with many of bluegrass music’s most respected artists and bands\, and since 2017\, he has been a trusted member of Dale Ann Bradley’s band-contributing his distinctive dobro voice to award-winning recordings and countless live performances. \nMatt’s playing is marked by restraint\, emotion\, and deep respect for the song. It is an affirmation that bluegrass still contains endless expressive possibility. Next Act finds the Rangers sounding deeply at home in their own musical language\, drawing strength from tradition while continuing to write new chapters within it. \nFormed in North Carolina and shaped equally by the Appalachian Mountains and the Piedmont\, Steep Canyon Rangers have long occupied a singular space in American roots music. From their earliest recordings\, the band demonstrated an unusual ability to honor traditional bluegrass forms while allowing contemporary songwriting\, literary influence\, and regional storytelling to seep naturally into the music.
