The Nashville Songwriter 5/11

The Nashville Songwriter HITMAKERS edition takes place May 11th in the outdoor stage area on our north lawn.   Seating will not be provided, so bring your own chair or blanket.  Gates open at 6:30 pm, concert begins at 7:00 pm.  Tickets are $20 each for general admission.  Bar and concessions will available during the concert in the outdoor stage area.

Featuring professional songwriters based in Nashville, Tennessee, the series focuses on both hit makers and those searching for their first hit. The series highlights stories and lives of those working to create the soundtrack of America.  Each event features several Nashville-based songwriters offering the backstory on their work and sharing personal experiences that shape their songs.

Billy Montana has achieved five #1 country records: Lee Brice's “Memory I Don’t Mess With”(2021) and “Hard To Love”(2012), Garth Brooks' “More Than A Memory”(2007), Sara Evans' "Suds In The Bucket" (2004) and Jo Dee Messina's "Bring On The Rain" (2002). "Bring On The Rain" was nominated for awards by both the Recording Academy (Grammy) and the Country Music Association and reached Number 6 on the Adult Contemporary chart. "Suds In The Bucket" was the most played song by a female country artist in 2004 and has logged over 4 million broadcast performances.  “More Than A Memory” is the fastest rising single in the history of country music, debuting at #1 on both the Billboard and R & R charts.  Montana also hit top 5 on the country music charts with the Jon Pardi single, “Night Shift”(2019).  All the aforementioned singles have reached or exceeded platinum  status (a million+ in sales).

Montana's song “What If I Was Willing” was featured on several of the 2013-14 episodes of the popular television series “Nashville.”

First inspired to pick up a guitar as a teenager in rural upstate New York by his musician father, Montana soon formed a country/rock band with his brother.  After graduating with a degree in agriculture from Cornell University, Montana decided to try music full time and traded his dream  of becoming a farmer for a record deal on Warner Brothers. His 1996 Magnatone Records release "No Yesterday" received great critical acclaim from USA Today, Music Row magazine, and Billboard magazine.

Many prominent artists have recorded Montana's songs including Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Lee Brice, Jon Pardi, Sara Evans, Martina McBride, David Nail, Pat Green, Jo Dee Messina, Trace Adkins, Eli Young Band, Kellie Pickler, Emmylou Harris, Vince Gill, Sister Hazel, Steve Holy, Kenny Rogers and Lee Ann Womack

CMA, ACM & Grammy nominee, Bobby Tomberlin, was raised in Luverne, AL, where he was a disc jockey at the age of 11, interviewing icons like Johnny Cash, Waylon and Tammy Wynette. Bobby was discovered by Mel Tillis and recently celebrated his 27th year as a staff songwriter for CURB Word Music. Bobby co-wrote "One More Day", recorded by Diamond Rio, Darryl Worley’s Top 10 hit, "A Good Day To Run” and the current Dolly Parton/Bill Anderson single, “Someday It’ll All Make Sense”. Bobby has also had songs recorded by Blake Shelton, Willie Nelson, Barbra Streisand, Faith Hill, Josh Turner, Kenny Rogers, Joe Nichols, Rodney Atkins, Joe Diffie, Dylan Scott, Pam Tillis, Mo Pitney, Jamey Johnson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chris Young, The Oak Ridge Boys, Deana Carter, Thompson Square, Bill Anderson, actor Chris Pine, Moe Bandy, Craig Morgan, Terri Clark, John Schneider, Lee Greenwood, Bobby Bare, Jeannie Seely, Steve Wariner, Rhonda Vincent and many others. Bobby was one of the cast members of the CMT hit series, The Singing Bee, for four seasons and has appeared on numerous television shows including Country’s Family Reunion, Opry Backstage and Authentic America.  Bobby has also been featured in several films including Wheeler, starring Kris Kristofferson and Stephen Dorff.  Bobby’s 2016 release, Out Of Road, featured guest vocals by Vince Gill, Bill Anderson and Bobby Bare. Like his current single, Bobby really has lived Country Music.

Nashville singer/songwriter Steve Dean has co-written six number one Billboard hits, including the most played song on country radio in 2007 and Country AirCheck’s Song of the Decade in 2017, "Watching You" for Rodney Atkins, the Grammy nominated "It Takes A little Rain" for The Oak Ridge Boys, "Southern Star" for Alabama, "Round About Way" for George Strait, "Walk On" for Reba McEntire, and "Heart’s Aren’t Made To Break" for Lee Greenwood... Among Steve’s musical influences are The Beatles, The Byrds, The Eagles, Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, and Roger Miller. Steve’s songs have been recorded by Sister Hazel, LoCash, Joe Nichols, Dierks Bentley, Lee Ann Womack, Waylon Jennings, Pure Prairie League and others.

Steve has earned eight BMI Songwriter Awards and two BMI Publisher Awards. As a singer/songwriter, Steve lets his audience in on a behind the scenes look at, and a unique opportunity to hear the stories surrounding his music.
