Join us each week for live performances featuring talented regional and touring musicians. \nThis performance will feature Brenna MacMillan: \nOriginally from Winchester\, Kentucky\, Brenna MacMillan began playing banjo at the age of nine. Brenna performed frequently in the Lexington area which led to opening for J.D. Crowe and Bobby Osborne. Attending Berea College\, Brenna played with the Bluegrass Ensemble under Al White and was awarded the Red Foley Memorial Music Award in 2018. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry\, Brenna moved to Nashville and started Theo & Brenna Band with her brother Theo. Their full bluegrass band toured for several years\, releasing two albums.\nAs Theo & Brenna Band stepped back from touring in 2022\, Brenna began working in Nashville with various artists and bands locally\, online\, and touring\, including Brennen Leigh\, Paul Kramer\, Hillary Klug\, Greg Garing\, Kimberly Perry\, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes\, East Nash Grass\, Jason Carter\, Suwannee Mountain Boys\, Della Mae\, Kashus Culpepper and Josiah and the Bonnevilles. She performed with international group Tapis Rogue 2 at the International Festival of Carthage 2025 in Tunis\, Tunisia.\nBrenna released her debut solo album Dear Life in October of 2024. Since releasing this record\, Brenna has brought her music to audiences across the US\, Canada\, and Ireland. Her songs have undertones of West African rhythms\, old Kentuckian soil melodies and an innate resonation of storytelling. Join us each week for live performances featuring talented regional and touring musicians. \nThis performance will feature Shayne Bartley: \nShayne Bartley\, a native of Ezel\, Kentucky\, has spent more than four decades building a remarkable career in bluegrass music. Widely respected for his powerful vocals and exceptional musicianship\, Shayne has earned a reputation as one of the genre’s most versatile performers. \nHis musical journey began as a teenager playing guitar with his older brother Rick’s band\, Newground\, where his talent quickly became evident. Over the years\, he developed into an accomplished multi-instrumentalist\, excelling on guitar\, banjo\, and mandolin while becoming equally recognized for his distinctive lead and harmony vocals. \nThroughout his career\, Shayne has performed with many of bluegrass music’s most acclaimed artists and bands\, including Bluegrass Hall of Fame members The Lost and Found\, Don Rigsby and Midnight Call\, American Drive\, Southern Blend\, The Charlie Sizemore Band\, Dave Evans\, Unlimited Tradition\, Rarely Herd\, David Peterson and 1946\, and The Karl Shiflett & Big Country Show. Shayne currently holds down the mandolin position with Fast Track and will be performing select dates with a group of great musical friends as his Fast Track schedule allows. Shayne is in the recording studio as of late\, working on an upcoming solo recording. He has also filled in with the legendary J.D. Crowe and the New South\, a testament to the high regard in which he is held throughout the bluegrass community. \nShayne’s career includes numerous honors and milestones. He contributed to the International Bluegrass Music Association’s 2006 Album of the Year\, and during his tenure with Rarely Herd\, the band earned two Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA) Entertaining Band of the Year awards. His exceptional musicianship has also taken him to the stage of the Grand Ole Opry on multiple occasions\, where he has consistently impressed audiences with his performance and professionalism. \nDemonstrating his versatility beyond bluegrass\, Shayne was a member of David Peterson and 1946\, who toured with country music superstars Brooks & Dunn during their 2003 Neon Circus Tour\, bringing his musicianship to audiences across the country. With the McLain Family Band\, Ruth continues touring nationally and internationally\, adding special concerts as soloists with symphony orchestras. \nRuth has been an instructor at the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music at Morehead State University for the past 14 years\, sharing a lifelong perspective on the living history of bluegrass music with the next generation. This is the “high lonesome sound” of American roots music at its finest. \nJohn Jorgenson is a co-founder (with Herb Pedersen and Chris Hillman) of the formative country rock group Desert Rose Band. In 1990\, Jorgenson founded the Hellecasters and toured with Sir Elton John’s band for six years\, before later reuniting with John as lead guitarist for many European dates of the record-breaking Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour. An impressively eclectic range of artists including Sting\, Luciano Pavarotti\, Bonnie Raitt\, Billy Joel\, Barbra Streisand\, Bob Seger\, and Earl Scruggs have sought out Jorgenson to be part of their own recordings and/or performances. Music legends and guitar greats such as Tom Petty\, Peter Frampton\, Tommy Emmanuel\, Duane Eddy\, Joe Bonamassa and Brad Paisley have also sung Jorgenson’s praises. Jorgenson portrayed Django Reinhardt in the Hollywood feature film Head in the Clouds. In 2008\, Jorgenson won a GRAMMY® Award for Best Country Instrumental with Brad Paisley and was nominated for Best Bluegrass Album with Earl Scruggs. \nGRAMMY® Award Nominee Herb Pedersen is a former member of the Desert Rose Band\, legendary\nbluegrass band The Dillards and bluegrass super-group Old and In the Way\, among others. A soughtafter singer/songwriter\, musician\, and vocal arranger\, he has worked with such music legends as John\nFogerty\, Tom Petty\, Mudcrutch\, Chris Hillman\, Linda Ronstadt\, Jackson Browne\, Emmylou Harris\, Gram\nParsons\, Earl Scruggs\, Tony Rice\, Dan Fogelberg\, Kris Kristofferson\, John Prine\, Stephen Stills\, and\nJohn Denver.\nPatrick Sauber is a talented multi-instrumentalist who has quickly made a name for himself as a young\nperformer in the world of bluegrass\, folk\, western and old-time music. Equally adept on guitar\, mandolin\,\nbanjo and cajun accordion\, Sauber has played with Doc Watson\, Richard Greene\, Peter Rowan\, Tim\nO’Brien\, John Fogerty\, Laurie Lewis\, and John Reischman\, among others. Sauber played on the 2016\nGRAMMY®-nominated album The Hazel and Alice Sessions by Laurie Lewis and appeared in the film A\nMighty Wind with Christopher Guest.\nGRAMMY® Award-winning bassist and producer Mark Fain has recorded and performed with Bruce\nHornsby\, Dolly Parton\, Loretta Lynn\, Tom Petty\, John Oates\, Alan Jackson\, Ry Cooder\, John Fogerty\,\nChris Hillman\, Dwight Yoakam\, Alison Krauss\, Travis Tritt\, Joan Osborne\, The Chicks\, Martina McBride\,\nRosanne Cash\, Jack Black\, and Cody Johnson. Using these experiences as a foundation\, there’s truly no limit to where this Chicago-based quartet will go – literally and figuratively. \nEver constant in the group’s enthralling performances is their ability to showcase their passion for both their craft and our shared humanity. Each member skilled in storytelling\, compelling songwriting and intricate instrumentation\, they offer intrinsic artistic prowess\, fervently building on one another’s raw talent. Reverence for tradition coupled with curiosity and innovation lands the Prowlers in a category difficult to define but explosively intriguing around every bend. \nTheir latest record\, ‘Unravel\,’ produced by Dark Shadow Recording’s Stephen Mougin (Sam Bush Band) underscores the band’s resistance towards being contained\, some tunes expressing a modern Americana feel with others nodding to classic country and bluegrass standards. On this newest offering\, their trademark four-piece harmonies have only matured in tone and sincerity\, their picking ferocious as ever. It’s a testament to their emboldened status as composers\, walking fine lines and eschewing strict categorization in favor of experimentation and satisfying their inner artistry. \nThe subject matter largely encircles ever-challenging life on the road\, as well as reflections on war\, personal quests\, the passage of time\, and tremendous loss\, all rounded out by peaks of joy\, lighthearted imagination\, and hearts unburdened. Mirroring their worldly touring reality\, seemingly no terrain is left untraversed. Weathered and worn\, nevertheless brightly shining for all to see\, ‘Unravel’ welcomes the listener as though they were an old companion\, eager to share their intimate stories of years gone by. \nBut you haven’t really experienced the band until you’ve seen them onstage. Audiences will hear tunes from their extensive songbook accompanied by an inspiring narrative and bluegrassy takes on international tunes from their travels\, perhaps even in a language they’ve never heard before. \nTo date\, the Prowlers have toured 30 countries on 5 continents working with the U.S. State Dept and their own nonprofit\, Bluegrass Ambassadors. The group’s many life-changing encounters with people and musicians across the globe have shaped their worldview and bolstered the bridges they establish between cultures. In 2020\, he was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame as a member of New Grass Revival. He is a multi-award-winning musician including Hall of Fame inductions\, Grammy Awards\, and the moniker “King of Telluride” for his longstanding association with the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. \nMichael Johnathon\, creator and host of the PBS syndicated Woodsong’s Old-Time Radio Hour since its inception in 1999\, is an American folk singer-songwriter\, producer\, author\, and playwright. He has released 17 albums\, published four books\, a play\, composed an opera\, and performs with symphony orchestras and in coffeehouses alike. \n  \nAbout the partners\nThis event is a collaboration between Kentucky Humanities and the Blue Grass Music Hall of Fame and Museum. \n  \nEvent free of charge\, but reservations required. \nReservations accepted beginning April 15\, 2022.
