DESCRIPTION:To celebrate its 50th anniversary\, Kentucky Humanities\, in partnership with the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum\, will host the Father of New Grass\, Sam Bush and Woodsong’s Old-Time Radio Hour host\, Michael Johnathon who will discuss storytelling through song and the impact of music on a particular region\, the Commonwealth\, and the country at large. \n  \nAbout the presenters\nSam Bush\, a native of Bowling Green\, Kentucky\, is an American mandolinist who is considered an originator of progressive bluegrass music\, known as New Grass. In 2020\, he was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame as a member of New Grass Revival. He is a multi-award-winning musician including Hall of Fame inductions\, Grammy Awards\, and the moniker “King of Telluride” for his longstanding association with the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. \nMichael Johnathon\, creator and host of the PBS syndicated Woodsong’s Old-Time Radio Hour since its inception in 1999\, is an American folk singer-songwriter\, producer\, author\, and playwright. He has released 17 albums\, published four books\, a play\, composed an opera\, and performs with symphony orchestras and in coffeehouses alike. \n  \nAbout the partners\nThis event is a collaboration between Kentucky Humanities and the Blue Grass Music Hall of Fame and Museum. \n  \nEvent free of charge\, but reservations required. \nReservations accepted beginning April 15\, 2022.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Kentucky Shine Album Release Party for their new EP Leavin’ Town on November 19th!  Hailing from our backyard in Owensboro\, Kentucky\, Kentucky Shine will perform a FREE concert in our Woodward Theatre and host fans following the show to sign merchandise and more.  Seating is general admission and the concert begins at 7 pm.  Doors open at 6 pm\, and bar and concessions will be available.  Help us support local music and hometown bluegrass in Kentucky Shine! \nKentucky Shine’s members include Jordan Wood (Guitar)\, Steven Stewart (Fiddle)\, JB Miller (Bass)\, and Jordan Riehm (Banjo).  Each of these musicians have many different influences\, and have a deep respect for Traditional Bluegrass\, Western Swing\, Jam Grass\, Classical Music\, Blues\, Funk\, Country\, and more. These unique influences afford them the ability to bring new and innovative music to the bluegrass family while maintaining the traditional lonesome harmonies and characteristics that are unique to the Bluegrass sound. \n​ \nCovid-19 Info:  Face masks are recommended but not required.
