What’s more authentic than learning AT the Hall of Fame? The Lesson program is designed to make bluegrass music more accessible to all who are interested in learning to play an instrument.

For any questions about our education programs, email our Education Director Randy Lanham [email protected].

If you can't join in person lessons, please consider doing our online lessons at www.BluegrassMusicAcademy.org for easy to learn songs on fiddle, guitar, and mandolin, and taught by Randy Lanham.

Thanks to grants from the Micheal E. Horn Family Foundation and the Lester E. Yeager Charitable Trust as well as the generosity of Champion Ford in Owensboro, Kentucky, lessons are offered at a heavily discounted rate to the students.

Group Instrument Lessons

Join us for Music  Lessons!   All classes are 45 minutes long.  Our beginning age for classes is 9 years old for fiddle, guitar, and mandolin, and 12 years old for banjo.  We will not bend the age requirements.  No exceptions. Final class placement will be at the discretion of the instructor.

This class will move very slowly and cover easy to play songs. Good for students who have never played that particular instrument before and want to cover very easy basics.
6pm Beginner Plus

This class is designed for students that have  completed  at least one beginner class and want to move at a faster pace and be a little more challenged.

7pm Band Class
This class includes fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo and bass and will move at a faster pace. You are expected to already know how to play your instrument and read tab and/or chord charts for your instrument.

NOTE - If Daviess County Schools are closed for bad weather conditions, the lessons will be canceled for that day and an email lessons will be sent out to all students to make up for the cancellation.

Loaner Instruments:

We have a limited number of instruments available to loan to students that do not have their own instrument to play.  These are available on a first come/first served basis.  There is a $50 deposit required up front to receive an instrument for classes.  This deposit is refundable once the instrument is returned in good condition.  If the instrument is not returned to the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum, the deposit will be forfeited.  The instrument must still be turned in.  If the student wishes to continue learning with the loaner instrument, the student must register for lessons.  To receive an instrument on loan, be sure to add the $50 deposit when checking out and processing payment.
